A great monument to landmark the northern-most point in the modern day Japanese Archipelego. The plaxe can be inundated with tourist clamouring to get their pictures/selfies at the monument. A little patience and civility would be helpful to your cause.
The North! Worth the visit, nice place!
A really neat location to see the northernmost point in Japan. You can even see Russia from this vantage point. Dress warmly here because the winds are strong and temperatures are cold.
Visiting here is definitely a good memory for you.
Today was very windy. It has a great view.
The North Pole of Japan, Cape Soya, to be there is a miracle.
I came here during my motorcycle trip around Japan, reaching the northern tip of Cape Soya. It is an accomplish when you get here. I came here during the autumn but, because its the northern tip, it was actually quite cold up here. You can drink some warm soup at a small local restaurant next to the tip, which is quite relieving. Its also cool because many other bikers from around Japan also strive to reach this point, so may be able to make some new people here (I made some biker friends from Hiroshima and Osaka when I came here.)
FOX at SOYALast local bus to the Wakkanai station
one of the most beautiful places i liked during the Hokkaido trip. Lucky to be here in good weather
If the weather is good then you’ll be lucky enough to see Russian land ( Sakhalinsk).
Nice small park with a pretty statue. Local shop had a nice range of gifts
This is the north most point in Japan with a view of Russia. The case has some memorial statues which tell you the history of Hokkaido. There are signs with various labagaues (Japanese, English, Chinese, Korean and Russian) on most the signage. I came here early for the sunrise at 4am and there wasn't a lot of people. Visitors began to roll around 9am. There are some seafood restaurants in the vicinity as well.
The monument was nice, you can see sachklin from here on a good day
Nice scenery of the highest point of Japan. Strong wind and very cold. Get the round trip bus ticket from Wakkanai JR station. They will give you the bus schedule to come back.
Great place to visit as it offers more than just the landmark. The surrounding area has very unique geological shapes. On top of the hill, we could see a lot of deer just roaming around.
Symbolic spot to hike. Prepare some drinks.
Everyone knows this cape but hardly visit here because it is located at the most north place in Japan. I recommend you to visit here if you have a chance to come to Hokkaido, Japan.
It was our most memorable achievement to reach the northernmost point of Japan.
Better to visit there very early in the morning (during the summer time) for a nice pic shot bcz during the daytime there are full of tourists queuing up just to take photos to show that they visited the northern-most region in Japan....
The most north point of Japan. Everything in here is fancy to have a title of "the most north", such as "the most north toilet", "the most north restaurant", "the most north shop"...etc. You can also purchase the certification to prove that you have been to the most north point of Japan. If the weather is nice, then you can even see Russia. Wind is strong, since here is a cape.
The most north point of Japan. Clean, quiet and so memorable! Driving here along which is a kind of joyfulness! Enjoy the snow, blue sky, blue ocean. Remember to grab a hundred Yen to get a certification of arrival of northest point.Huge parking space near by!
It's cool to be there to say you've done it, but keep in mind the cape is in a sleepy town. 5hrs each way from Sapporo station, so you better commit to the journey! Could see Russia on a clear day.
February windy & cold but memorable. Great experience.
mostnorthern place in Hokkaido Island.monument, some shops, restroom, that's all.little solitary place.if you are lucky. might see fox, deer.
You can see Sakhalin in good weather.
It is a very beautiful place. The only problem is if you are not a fan of seafood cause that's the only food you can get around. If you want something else you will have to go to Wakkanai city.
After one month I finally got here. Crossed this country by car. This place is amazing, beautiful
Cape Soya is a remote and isolated region of Japan. Few ever visit here and even fewer live here. On days with good weather you can sometimes see southern tip of Russia. Interestingly enough all the road signs have Russian translation on them something other cities in rest of Japan lack.
Breathtaking. A few memorials around that area with signboards in various languages.
If you're already in the area it makes sense to visit the northernmost point, otherwise I wouldn't drive multiple hours just for this
Nice place - a must visit for everyone visiting Hokkaido !!
The wind was really cold during winter. If you don't rent a car, then please make sure and don't miss the last bus (around 3 pm).
Beautiful scene
Northernmost point in Japan. Memorable if a bit touristy with typically cool, local Japanese souvenirs. Many nice park areas. Spectacular view on a clear, sunny day.
Worth the visit, but the weather wasn’t helpful at all
Overall, a great place to visit for natural scenery and a bit of history about Japan's conflicts with Russia. The Cape itself is pretty subdued (granted, it was cold and rainy when I visited). There are also some touristy shops nearby, as well as a small park with several monuments and statues a short walk up the hill to the south. Almost all of the plaques have English on them too, which was nice.
The top of Japan. A must see for whoever visits
The most northern point of JapanSeems this is a very popular and must see place, very picturesque, right by the SeaEveryone were busy on picture taken, long queue on weekend or holidays Parking are limited
It was my intermediate goal to reach Cape Soja during my cycling trip around Hokkaido. It's a nice spot. Since the weather was bad, I could not see very far. There are toilet facilities and small shops around. Plenty of parking is available, free of charge.
I like here 🤪🤪🤩
A must go place in the life time, but it is best to come at the summer not winter....
Northest point of Japan with magnificent views.Worth a visit if you go to Hokkaido. There are a souvenir shop and restaurants.
Amazing place that is a must visit in Hokkaido. JR pass will take you to Wakkanai and 2500 en bus round trip ticket to the cape. Lovely but cold and windy in mid June.
稚内市 宗谷岬 Cape Soya is the northernmost point of Japan, touring the area would be easier if you self-drive. During our first visit we decided to take a Soya bus tour from the Wakkanai station. What a lovely trip!
The most northern point in Japan. Take a bus from Wakkanai!!
10 min and you're done. To be fair I was here off season. Probably more lively during spring/ summer when the fishermen come in with the catch into the nearby village.
A MUST, and make sure to go up to the park on the opposite hill
Northernmost point of Japan, Wakkanai, Cape Soya, an absolute beauty and great routes to get there by cycling
The northest point of Hokkaido. Good place to break your driving. Just opposite of the parking area there are some typical Japanese restaurant for some lunch as well.
The northest place of Japan, not to miss here if visiting Wakkanai.
